Progress in construction of new Armenia-Iran road by end of 2025

The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia announced that the new section of the country’s North-South Road project towards the Iranian border will be 30 percent completed by the end of 2025.

According to the Eurasia Review website, Khachatryan noted that the total cost of the project is estimated at $214 million, of which $70 million will be funded by the end of this year.

Previously, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had emphasized that the Iranian contractor consortium for this project (Abad Rahan Pars International Group and Ariana Dam Tunnel) is working on this project at a speed unprecedented in Armenia.

According to Khachatryan, the North-South Iran Road in Armenia is one of the largest independent projects in Armenia, with parts of it including upgrades and parts including new construction. It will reduce the distance from Iran to the Georgian border from 550 kilometers to 460 kilometers, facilitating access to the Black Sea not only for Armenia but also for India and the Persian Gulf countries.
